Separating is rarely tidy. We handle the legal side of it, who the children live with, how property gets divided, and what the paperwork has to say, so you can get on with the rest of your life.
Whether you are planning ahead or sorting out an estate after a death, this is work that has to be right the first time. A mistake in a will tends to surface when the person who wrote it is no longer around to fix it.
Nobody enjoys ringing a law firm for the first time. Here is exactly what to expect, so none of it comes as a surprise.
1
Book a free appointment
Call us, pick a time online, or start your matter through our online system at whatever hour suits you. Appointments run by video conference, by telephone, or in person at the Pialba office.
2
Find out where you stand
Half an hour with a solicitor. You will leave knowing your options, what is likely to happen next, and roughly what it will cost. There is no charge for this and no pressure attached to it.
3
Decide in your own time
If you want us to act, we confirm the scope and the fees in writing before any work begins. If you would rather not, that is a perfectly reasonable outcome and you owe us nothing.
Or call 07 4125 4818, Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Good communication is the single most important part of the lawyer-client relationship. Each side must understand the expectations and goals of the other party.

Who you will be dealing with
Claire Riddell
Principal Lawyer · Hervey Bay
Claire is the firm’s Legal Practitioner (Principal), working mainly in family law, dispute resolution and mediation, and in estate planning and administration.
She took her law degree at the University of Adelaide, where she topped her cohort in family law and was awarded the Dean’s Certificate of Merit for it. After three years at Legal Aid in South Australia she moved her family to Hervey Bay in 2004, and in 2010 bought the practice from one of the first lawyers to work in the area.
I walked into Claire's office a broken woman, facing separation and property settlement post-DV. I had lost hope of ever being financially back on track. But with her help I am about to buy my first home for me and my 3 children. Eternally grateful. She handled all the complicated stuff and I trusted her with making the right decisions for me. 5 stars. Claire has turned my life around.

Speaking to a real person is not always possible when a lawyer is on the agenda but Claire was a vibrant friendly person who explained all aspects of my duties whilst making me feel at ease. It does not take much to have a pleasant experience so if you want the same I suggest that you make Claire Riddell at Turner Riddell Lawyers your next stop when you need legal advice. This process was made really easy and clear for us. From initial appointment to completed documents was super fast and efficient. The team has been very responsive to our questions and highly professional along the way. And we've felt very comfortable and fully informed throughout the process. Thanks Claire and Natalie.
Going to see a lawyer is probably not high on your to-do list
So we make it as stress-free and as comfortable a process as we can. Answer a few questions in your own time, from anywhere, and a Hervey Bay solicitor reads them before you walk in.
The office is in Pialba and most clients come to us there. Every suburb below is within ten kilometres of it, and none is more than about twenty minutes away. Further out on the Fraser Coast we work by video conference and by telephone just as readily.
